The Motivation of a Heart that is Sanctified
by Pastor Ken Endean (Jul 25 2010)
A sincere decision does not guarantee a sanctified life. Nehemiah had left Jerusalem, and while he was gone it didn't take long for there to be spiritual decline in Jerusalem. The people compromised in four areas. They compromised in their companions. They kept back what should have been given in the collection. They secularized the Sabbath. They corrupted the covenant of marriage. Vigilance is required so that sincere decisions also become part of sanctified living.

At the dedication of the walls of Jerusalem, the people's joyful worship also impacted their finances. Their collection was organized and authorized. It was given to support the ministry, show pleasure to the ministers, and to proclaim God's grace. Biblical giving is motivated by the grace of God. The characteristics of grace giving is that it is joyful, generous, voluntary, submissive, and done lovingly.
